Privacy
Many people are concerned with how VeriChip will affect their privacy. The scanners used to access personal information are designed only to read chips on a limited number of frequencies (Amber 269). Safety measures to protect the information on the chips have also been put into place such as authentication protocols.

GPS Tracking
There are some fears that the chips act as GPS tracking devices, and would be used to track their every move. As of now the technology simply doesn't exist. The chip has no way of tracking anyone. The chip would have to be scanned to send out a signal that would show a location, and the scanners have to be very close to the chip to scan them.
The VeriChip Implant costs $200.00 and there is a $9.95/monthly fee for storing the information on the online database.
